Rachel McAdams as Linda Liddle, fighting back tears as she walks out of their office while her co-workers looked on, was such a triggering scene for me. Not that I’ve experienced this exact scene, but in a way, there are some elements of it that I am still familiar with to this day.
I really enjoyed ‘Send Help’ even if I saw it alone, granted I would have enjoyed it more if I had friends with me. I loved genuinely not knowing how the characters would respond and react to things. I also appreciated how the dynamic changed between the two leads, and how you as an audience would also have your allegiances shift between the two.
The film was such a fun mix of genres, office politics with a “Survivor” twist, it’s a also horror, psychological thriller with a dark humor. Not your typical mix but in the hands of Sam Raimi it all works.
Of course, much of the movie’s success goes to the powerhouse acting prowess of dynamic duo Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien whose commitment to their roles is what sealed the deal for this stressful, enjoyable, yet refreshing film. One of my early favorites for this year.
