July 28, 2025 — The all-girl alt-pop trio NEW LORE is ready to serve their debut album grief cake on August 1, 2025, with a full-blown launch party at The Astbury, Makati on August 2. Expect live music, live art, tattoos, merch, and a community coming together to turn grief into something loud, tender, and a little sparkly.
grief cake is an 8-track chronicle of heartbreak, healing, and emotional metamorphosis. Once known as No Lore, the band—composed of visual artist and vocalist Tita Halaman, bassist Kim Escalona, and drummer Carole Lantican—emerges with a sound that’s sharper, stranger, and more honest. From the existential ache of “LOVING, HURTING” to the quiet comfort of “TRAFFIC,” every track is a layer in the cake. It’s pop for people who cry in traffic and heal through playlists.
The album’s final track and namesake, “GRIEF CAKE,” encapsulates the band’s ethos: that life is a strange and sweet kind of grief you eat even when it hurts. “I buy myself a cake when I’m sad,” shares Tita. “It became a ritual. Then a metaphor. Then a whole album.”
