In case you’re not familiar, Leica is a well known, loved and trusted brand of camera. And on July 4, Xiaomi officially unveiled to the world the new Xiaomi 12S Series “co-engineered with Leica”.
The Xiaomi 12S Series – undoubtedly an outstanding imaging product series is the first result and culmination of the ‘Strategic Partnership in Imaging Technology’ between Xiaomi and Leica. You would be glad to know that the entire X12s series features different imaging systems, which were developed by Leica and Xiaomi. The Xiaomi12s has Leica Summicron lenses, and supports Leica imaging profiles. All of these features aim to deliver and empower individuals and creators (like me!) to express themselves, their art, their creativity and their content in the best way possible, while also keeping the authentic, well loved, and well known style of Leica imagery.

Xiaomi & Leica have co-developed sophisticated optical lenses, in order to help push this new imaging technology. Considered as one of its top models, the Xiaomi12S Ultra utilizes Leica’s world-class optical design capabilities in its lens system and at the same time, adhering to their strict optical quality testing standards and implementing XIaomi’s expertise in miniaturizing components to ensure ultra-high resolution, ultra-high light sensitivity, reduced dispersion, and lower flare. All good things when it comes to quality mobile photography.
The primary camera of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has an 8P aspheric lens, in order to address common photography issues like flare, ghosting, and chromatic aberration, The camera module of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra also adds anti-glare lens coating, lens edge ink coacting, cyclic olefin copolymer material, and infrared light filter with spin coating technology. All of these features ensure that what is offered is a clearer overall picture that is consistent across the lens.
Leica is known for its century-old image aesthetic. With the Xiaomi 12S Series which is “co-engineered with Leica” users can easily access this look, though Leica imaging profiles.
