When you type anything on Twitter that starts with ‘One’ <\/i>– ‘One Direction’ <\/i>would immediately come out and well I was more than happy to go against the flow and follow that ‘One<\/i>‘ with ‘Ok Rock’ <\/i>(instead of Direction) since it was <\/i>One Ok Rock Tribute Night – Encore last May 24, 2014 at District 2140.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Actually just two weeks ago we were also at the same bar for Paramore Night 8 where my band The Pearl Report<\/i> also performed.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
The first ever tribute Night happened last year March 3, 2013 at the same bar, except it was still known as Freedom Bar then. So while the venue may have had a change in name the people behind the event P.O.O.R (Philippine ONE OK ROCKers) did not change nor waver in their love and admiration for this Japanese Rock band.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

And aside from just celebrating love, music and friendship the night was also made extra special with the celebration of the group’s third anniversary as well as celebrating some of the member’s birthdays – complete with cake too! \ud83d\ude00 Yup! Just like a family indeed!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Wanting to gather old friends and make new ones who share the same passion in One Ok Rock’s music was the sole drive for this event. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

The night was not only just about enjoying One Ok Rock’s music but it was also made extra fun through games and prizes that were given away. Big thanks to the event’s sponsors like Waku – Waku ^__^\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>There were also One Ok Rock shirts, lanyars and ballers that were available at the event. (Big thanks for my shirt <3)\u00a0<\/span>

I’ve always been a fan of Japanese music, way back when it was only available in\u00a0Cassette\u00a0tapes I was already singing along to Anime music. Much to my Mom’s dismay \ud83d\ude1b I guess I was lucky enough to have married someone who shared the same quirks as I did. On \u00a0the way to the event, we were actually listening to my Japanese playlist in the car and talking about the technicality in Japanese music which is lacking in many mainstream music.\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>We’ve mostly been covering music gigs and events and I’ve always wanted to cover a Japanese Music gig (you can check out our Tricot coverage here<\/a> ) so getting a chance to cover the One Ok Rock Tribute Night Encore was a no brainer actually. \ud83d\ude1b\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Aside from the great music and equally great performances it was nice to be in a crowd that chants ‘Tapusin! Tapusin!’<\/i>\u00a0complete with Makai high pitched voices and you all know you are referring to Yu Yu Hakusho’s eager audience to the Black Tournament. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>It’s like being in a room with long lost friends ^_^ even if my husband and I were technically newbies in this particular scene, we didn’t really feel left out \ud83d\ude1b \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

The audience were even a special performance from the President herself which included a violin and a Midi player \ud83d\ude42\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Although there was a bit of a hiccup with the band equipment (not the organizer’s fault) I really admire how they calmly addressed the issue and how they were very professional about it – the show went on as it should and once the problem was solved the fun continued.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was literally a FULL HOUSE in District 2140 that night and it just makes you wonder with a big fan base like this how come the band hasn’t dropped by our shores yet?\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Well if Japanese band Tricot had a successful show here (blog post here<\/a>) dreaming and hoping for One Ok Rock to have a show as well is not to far fetched right?\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
