I’ll be 30 in a couple of years and I think I’ve struggled with the idea of growing up and growing old but recently an old friend has taught me you can grow up but never really grow old.\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>I\u00a0definitely\u00a0won’t be true to myself if I don’t recognize Avril Lavigne as one of my musical influences-because she was.\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>Like many, I was an angsty teenager once and Avril Lavigne’s music was a part of that. Specifically her first two albums, Let Go<\/i> and Under<\/i> My Skin.\u00a0<\/i><\/span>

<\/span>So there was that Little Black Star <\/i>in me and so I was really looking forward to the Avril Lavigne Pre-Concert Party (better go ahead and say it, we didn’t go to the concert-due to lack of funds and financial responsibilities, we would have gone if we had complimentary tickets though. I still want to be able to cover concerts regularly, maybe in the future we can cross that one off our bucket list)<\/i>\u00a0so going back to the pre-concert party-the energy is always so great and positive when we go to events like these so I knew that this was going to be a super fun party. \u00a0<\/span>

Some of the great prizes that were given away during the event – Proactiv- Green Tea Moisturizer, Gift Certificates from Tokyo Bubble Tea (a personal favorite) and a P1,000 off certificate from Ice Watch! (Guess who will be shopping for an Ice Watch soon? ^_^)<\/i> In case you guys didn’t know Avril is an endorser of Ice Watch \ud83d\ude42 You can check out their stalls in SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, Trinoma and the Marquee Mall.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

A lot of the pre-concert attendees were also dressed in Avril Lavigne inspired outfits – prizes were given out to the best dressed. \ud83d\ude42 It’s always nice to see young fans, some even friends (a big family really) get together to celebrate the love that they share for the same music and inspiration.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

I even saw a mom taking photo of her excited daughter by a standee of Avril Lavigne! That is one cool and super fun mom right there! \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Although we were a bit late (forgot how Saturday afternoon traffic is) we were still able to catch a lot of great fan performances covering Avril Lavigne songs, games and of course lots of prizes! The most coveted prize was a Meet & Greet Pass with Avril Lavigne, it was sooo coveted the crowd gathered during the event were even chanting for it: “Meet & Greet! Meet & Greet!” Well in the end, that coveted pass went to our friend Carlie – Congrats! \ud83d\ude00\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Speaking of friends, a couple of ours actually performed during the Pre-Concert Party – shout out to Mich Dimen representing The Yellow Room Music and to Yuko and Vanessa! \ud83d\ude00\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

A pre-concert party is always a great way to get the energy and excitement up for a concert \ud83d\ude42 So Congratulations to Little Black Stars for a great event! And to Odyssey for another super fun and amazing event! Here’s to more!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

One thing I can say about Avril Lavigne though is that damn she doesn’t age! She still looks the same when she broke into the music scene with Complicated<\/i>\u00a0if there really was a vampire – it would definitely be her!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

She’s twice married and once divorced but she doesn’t carry any of that vibe, she’s managed to remain young and this is very evidenced in her songs and music.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

So even if the years are adding up I got a fresh perspective that you can grow up but never really grow old – so here’s to never growing up! \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0<\/span>
