They don\u2019t experience consequences for any of their actions and they\u2019ll always continue to get more powerful, despite how they have acted in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just in time for the holidays, Black Christmas is a timely take on a cult horror classic as a campus killer comes to face a formidable group of friends in sisterhood. Professor Gelson and his father are both alumni of the University, and, in many ways, the school is his life. \u201cProfessor Gelson is a charming, popular professor on campus,\u201d director Sophia Takal says. \u201cHe was part of the DKO fraternity when he went to Hawthorne, but the current women of MKE have an issue with the fact that he only teaches the white male canon and doesn\u2019t include any diverse voices in his class.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elwes goes into further detail about the character. \u201cProfessor Gelson teaches classic literature with a slight bias towards suggesting that the glory of male civilization is far more important than anything else,\u201d Elwes says.\u201d What\u2019s ironic is that one usually associates prejudiced people with ignorance. Yet, here is a guy who is supposedly an intellectual who is clearly proud of his prejudice. He\u2019s a genuine, dad-joke telling, social-media-free guy, but Riley is wary of him because of her past experiences with men. Landon senses Riley\u2019s guardedness, but doesn\u2019t quite know where it\u2019s coming from or what to do about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLandon represents a new type of masculinity and his character is crucial in showing that there are men out there who want to help women,\u201d Takal says. \u201cHe understands women and is open to a more egalitarian society. Landon captures the charm and goofiness of what it is to be a young man trying to navigate relationships in 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nate (Simon Mead, Same But Different: A True New Zealand Love Story)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Nate is Marty\u2019s thoughtful, attentive boyfriend. Nate is very kind to Marty and her friends, but almost to a fault. Marty can be a bit curt with him, but he doesn\u2019t seem to mind. In fact, he seems pretty content to be the beta to Marty\u2019s alpha. \u201cNate doesn\u2019t fit in with your typical frat boy and finds himself more at ease around Marty\u2019s friends and their opinions and values,\u201d Mead says. \u201cHe\u2019s your all-around, trusting, friendly guy. A lot of the roles I\u2019ve had in the past have been playing the jerk, so it was nice to show a different side in this role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now playing in Philippine cinemas, Black Christmas is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
