The final chapter of the blockbuster horror franchise opens exclusively in cinemas July 5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Watch the film\u2019s trailer at <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rIslMRneXlM\"><em>https:\/\/youtu.be\/rIslMRneXlM<\/em><\/a><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the film, the horror franchise\u2019s original cast, including Wilson, Ty Simpkins and Rose Byrne, returns. He travels into another dimension and has to fight a demon! It can go as crazy as you want it to, if you start from a place of real emotion. I like pushing myself, whether it\u2019s physically, or emotionally, or creating tension, or finding humor in the dark moments, or darkness in the light moments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That idea \u2013 balancing light and dark \u2013 became the central theme of his directorial debut, according to Wilson. \u201cDealing with trauma, dealing with light and dark and the balance, and the art of the story \u2013 all of these seeds that were sown in the first film that now come to fruition,\u201d he says. \u201cSome blossom, some ripen, and some spoil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilson knew that directing his first film would be a learning experience \u2013 as it should be. Referring to all the different directors he\u2019s worked with he says, \u201cThey\u2019re so different in the way they approach it, and there\u2019s no one way. That\u2019s what I love about this business, and what I love about directors. There are so many ways to get your film made. So my goal was to capitalize on my strengths, what excites me, what interests me, what I\u2019m passionate about. I don\u2019t quite know my style \u2013 I think I\u2019m still finding my own style. I\u2019m not so bold to think I\u2019ve figured it out. I\u2019m learning \u2013 I\u2019m in a constant state of learning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPatrick had a very strong vision for the film, and knew the direction of where he wanted to take this Lambert family saga,\u201d says producer James Wan, who was also Wilson\u2019s director in the first two <em>Insidious<\/em> films, as well as in <em>Conjuring<\/em> and <em>Aquaman<\/em>. \u201cThat made me really excited, since he\u2019d be returning to play the character he played in the first two films. He\u2019s building on the world we had created together whilst adding his own take to it. We talked and discussed about a wide range of things \u2013 story, characters, tone, scares, new villain, furthering the Further.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cI love horror.
