1 September, 2023 \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>19-year-old singer-songwriter,\u00a0Jasmine Yen\u00a0<\/strong>unveils her debut album\u00a0‘tbh<\/em><\/strong>‘ which\u00a0consists of 8 songs, written in part or entirely by Jasmine. Among these songs, four are fully\u00a0in English.\u00a0The album release follows the announcement of her signing to\u00a0RCA Records Greater China, a division of Sony Music Entertainment (SME) in late July, along with the release of her first single\u00a0“idk”<\/em>.

Jasmine’s debut album\u00a0‘tbh<\/em>‘<\/strong>\u00a0is a kaleidoscope of pop versatility. From the enthralling ballad\u00a0“it’s not u it’s me”,\u00a0<\/em>to the sensual\u00a0“tempo”\u00a0<\/em>to the\u00a0upbeat dance numbers\u00a0“idk”<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0“tbh”,<\/em>\u00a0her vocals effortlessly float over impeccable production and ear-wormy melodies.\u00a0One of the crowning moments of the album is the English focus track\u00a0“what the !”,\u00a0<\/em>an energetic, pop-punk-inspired song\u00a0that is equal parts cheeky and witty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019ve always considered myself a shy person, and at times,\u00a0I do feel like it can be challenging\u00a0to express myself with words. Since\u00a0childhood, I’ve found music and songwriting to be my\u00a0favourite method of self-expression. This album is my way of showcasing my confidence and highlights my coming-of-age journey of not being afraid to hold back on sharing my thoughts and emotions. There\u2019s definitely a running theme of\u00a0empowerment through\u00a0this album.\u00a0Since I was really young, I\u2019ve always been drawn to ‘girl power’\u00a0anthems because I\u2019ve consistently been surrounded by such strong, inspiring and independent women (my mom, my grandma, and my aunt).”<\/em><\/p>\n\u00a0\u2013 Jasmine Yen<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
