[Manila, September 11] \u2013 New Line Cinema\u2019s \u201cTHE NUN II\u201d \u2013 the next chapter in the story of \u201cThe Nun,\u201d the highest-grossing entry in the most successful horror franchise of all time, \u201cThe Conjuring\u201dUniverse \u2013 landed at the top of this weekend\u2019s box office, coming in at #1 in its debut and taking in PHP 90 million in the Philippines. Directed by Michael Chaves and produced by Peter Safran and James Wan, \u201cThe Nun II\u201dopened on September 6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A WBD representative stated, \u201cThis weekend\u2019s success is a testament to the high want-to-see factor of fans of \u201cThe Conjuring\u201dUniverse, the evergreen franchise that continues to frighten cinemagoers around the globe. New Line Cinema has become the \u2018haunted\u2019 home of horror, and ticket buyers were back for more of the iconic Demon Nun, continuing its evil trek across Europe. We are excited by these impressive opening numbers and anticipate that great word of mouth will continue to drive  business in the coming weeks as we head into Halloween.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Movie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1956 \u2013 France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taissa Farmiga (\u201cThe Nun,\u201d \u201cThe Gilded Age\u201d) returns as Sister Irene, joined again by Jonas Bloquet (\u201cTirailleurs,\u201d \u201cThe Nun\u201d) as Maurice, along with Storm Reid (\u201cMissing,\u201d \u201cThe Suicide Squad\u201d) as Sister Debra, Anna Popplewell (\u201cReign,\u201d \u201cThe Chronicles of Narnia\u201d trilogy) as Kate and Bonnie Aarons (reprising her role from \u201cThe Nun\u201d), surrounded by an ensemble cast of international talent\u2014Katelyn Rose Downey (\u201cThe Princess\u201d) as Sophie, Suzanne Bertish (\u201cDead Ringers\u201d) as Madame Laurent, L\u00e9ontine D\u2019Oncieu (\u201cTwo Tickets to Greece\u201d) as Simone, Anouk Darwin Homewood (\u201cThe Flood\u201d) as Celeste and Gael Ra\u00ebs (\u201cSimone: Woman of the Century\u201d) as Cedric. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Chaves (\u201cThe Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It\u201d) directs, from a screenplay by Ian Goldberg & Richard Naing (\u201cEli,\u201d \u201cThe Autopsy of Jane Doe\u201d) and Akela Cooper (\u201cM3GAN,\u201d \u201cMalignant\u201d), with a story by Cooper, based on characters created by James Wan & Gary Dauberman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Safran Company\u2019s Peter Safran and Atomic Monster\u2019s James Wan produce, continuing their collaboration as filmmakers on all of the previous \u201cConjuring\u201d films. \u201cThe Nun II\u201d is executive produced by Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Michael Polaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
