With this poetic sequel to his debut album, <em>Promise<\/em>, Marvin closes out an old chapter of his life through songs of regret, letting go, and moving on, and sets himself for a new adventure armed with redemption and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis album is about changing of plans and expectations,\u201d Jason Marvin shares. \u201cAcknowledging that we have no control over destiny; we can make plans, set expectations, and even prepare for what\u2019s ahead. But when life throws you an unexpected storm, you just have to hold on to who you are and trust in God\u2019s faithfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album was conceived during some of the darkest days of Marvin\u2019s life, a time of deep reflection and self-discovery. While undeniably written from a place of hurt and woundedness, the songs also became his lifeline\u2014an outlet for emotional release and a source of comfort as he worked through his struggles. The music allowed Marvin to reframe his perspective on life, spirituality, and love, ultimately setting him on a path toward recovery and renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ufeffCollaborating with two distinguished producers\u2014<strong>Nicholas Lazaro<\/strong> of <strong>La Balls Studio<\/strong> and <strong>Shadiel Chan<\/strong> of <strong>9 Degrees North<\/strong>\u2014Marvin\u2019s vision for <em>Rewritten Promise<\/em> came to life through diverse creative influences. Lazaro, known for his enigmatic style, brought a distinct artistic touch to the album, while Chan\u2019s expertise in creating soothing, atmospheric soundscapes further enhanced the emotional depth of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marvin reflects, \u201cWorking with Nick Lazaro was always a learning experience with the way he would suggest arbitrary elements and vocal harmonies for my songs that fits so perfectly. He was an older brother who knew his stuff through experience and guided me well. Working with Shadiel Chan is always a vibe. The coldness of Baguio, the quality of equipment, and Shad\u2019s patience and lightness allows you to breathe and thus making the creative process so fluid. He\u2019s someone you walk with side by side and together you discover how magical the output would be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ufeffMusically, <em>Rewritten Promise<\/em> explores acoustic folk sensibilities, woven together with lush arrangements and deeply personal lyrics. Marvin\u2019s storytelling ability shines as he takes listeners on an emotional journey\u2014from feelings of isolation to the catharsis of reconciliation and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jason Marvin explains his though process as a musician, and likens his process like that of a storyteller. \u201cI usually love starting raw and simple. Setting up the listener\u2019s ears for a whole range of dynamics, a simple acoustic guitar paints a picture of loneliness. From the first track of <em>Mag-Isa <\/em>being the denial stage, until the last tracks of <em>Pwede Pala<\/em> and <em>Yaman<\/em> being so grand with drums, strings, electric guitars\u2014as the culmination of the album, I\u2019ve always envisioned this album as a reflection of my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It\u2019s that personal to me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ufeffThe focal track of the album, \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=i07NJtYeCS0&amp;ab_channel=JasonMarvin\">Pwede Pala<\/a><\/strong>,\u201d is a testament to Marvin\u2019s newfound hope and optimism. In this powerful song, he confronts his past fears and hesitations, finding strength in the idea of second chances and the possibility of love after loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heartbroken people would joke about love being fleeting\u2014<em>walang<\/em> forever\u2014but I refuse to believe that even in the light of my story,\u201d he admits. \u201cI\u2019ve seen it with my parents. Marriages can work. Marriages can be flourishing even after 40 years.
