The highly anticipated \u201cMickey 17,\u201d director Bong Joon Ho\u2019s first feature since winning the Best Picture Academy Award (as well as Best Director and Best Original Screenplay) for his 2019 film \u201cParasite,\u201d had its world premiere in London, followed by another premiere at the 75th Berlin Film Festival, on February 13 and 15, respectively. Reactions from the premieres have come out, praising Bong\u2019s latest film as worth the wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiewire\u2019s critic David Ehrlich posted that \u201cBong Joon Ho is still very good at making movies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their review, Deadline Hollywood said, \u201cBased on the book by Edward Ashton, director Bong has adapted [the book] with a distinctive cinematic style as a dizzyingly funny but pertinent satire.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Total Film posted their initial reaction to the film, lauding it as \u201czany\u2026 a thrilling, unexpected sci-fi drama\u201d and in their review said that the film is \u201cfunny and charming from the get-go, building out a fascinating sci-fi world from its central conceit that ends up speaking to powerful and timely concerns through humor, satire, and exhilarating genre elements. Bong Joon Ho\u2019s best English movie to date and arguably Robert Pattinson\u2019s best movie ever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SlashFilm was very impressed with what they called another masterpiece from director Bong, saying, \u201cWith a sublime cast, \u2018Mickey 17\u2019 is a deeply heartfelt and uncomfortably funny musing on capitalism, colonization, and corruption. It\u2019s a perfect film for our time, and Bong Joon-ho\u2019s best English-language film yet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adam McKay, himself a writer\/director (\u201cDon\u2019t Look Up,\u201d \u201cThe Big Short,\u201d \u201cAnchorman\u201d movies), couldn\u2019t help singing his praises for \u201cMickey 17,\u201d saying, \u201cIt\u2019s hilarious, wild, sometimes genuinely heartbreaking and a perfect allegory for the hellscape stage of capitalism we\u2019re in right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMickey 17\u201d tells the story of Mickey Barnes (Pattinson), an unlikely hero who has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job\u2026 to die, for a living. It also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMickey 17\u201d will first open in South Korea on February 28 and will be available in other markets a week after. In the Philippines, \u201cMickey 17\u201d opens in cinemas March 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
