Written by Jhasmine Villanueva (dwta) with <strong>Tiana Kocher<\/strong>, <strong>Ashley Mehta<\/strong>, and <strong>Martin Estrada <\/strong>during the <strong>Sony x Monostereo Groove songwriting session<\/strong> earlier this year, the track pulsates with dynamic, in-your-face arrangements, urgent rhythms, and simmering rage. This is her <em>Jagged Little Pill<\/em> era, but with her voice still grounded in sincerity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bicol-born artist describes \u201cNasusunog (Pants On Fire)\u201d as an exploration of what she calls a <em>graceful wrath<\/em>, the act of expressing anger in a way that remains vulnerable and composed. \u201cIt\u2019s not screaming or exploding; it\u2019s just simply burning, quietly and beautifully.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The song\u2019s conceptual genesis came from a simple but loaded childhood phrase, \u201cLiar, liar, <strong><em>pants on fire<\/em><\/strong>,\u201d which also serves as the song\u2019s alternative title. What began as a playful idiom quickly revealed deeper implications. \u201cWe realized it could symbolize how deceit burns through trust,\u201d she adds. \u201cIt became the foundation for a song about reclaiming power and releasing long-suppressed emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recorded with <strong>Martin Estrada<\/strong> at the helm of production and <strong>Brian Lotho<\/strong> as co-producer, \u201cNasusunog (Pants On Fire)\u201d retains essential elements of dwta\u2019s sound\u2014percussion, acoustic textures, and ornamental strings\u2014while venturing into darker, brooding sonic terrain. The electric guitar work, in particular, lends an edge that mirrors the song\u2019s emotional weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Citing <strong>Lizzy McAlpine<\/strong>\u2019s \u201c<em>Erase Me<\/em>\u201d as a reference point, dwta embraced a moodier palette and created a track that speaks not only to her personal journey, but also to shared experiences of betrayal and resilience, especially among women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t just about me, though. It was like a collective emotion from all of us in the room,\u201d the Santigwar artist shares. \u201cWe talked about people who lie, manipulate, and make you feel small, and how we were all done with that.
