\u201cTraditional Kamasutra Teacher\u201d is a visually stunning and culturally rich film that explores Javanese traditions, gender roles, and emotional depth. Directed by Hanung Bramantyo and starring Raihaanun, the film tells the story of Ratri (Raihaanun), a young woman raised by a respected gowok<\/em>, a woman who teaches young men about household and sexuality before marriage. After a betrayal by her lover, Ratri seeks revenge through his son years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTraditional Kamasutra Teacher\u201d not only launches \u201cA-Reel Asia,\u201d but also the initiative\u2019s sub-category of \u201cIndo Jewels,\u201d which aims to celebrate the rich narratives and cinematic artistry of Indonesia. The film also stars Lola Amaria, Alika Jantinia, Devano Danendra and Reza Rahadian. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film, known in Indonesia as \u201cGowok: Javanese Kamasutra,\u201d was nominated at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam, and selected for the 24th New York Asian Film Festival. It is visually breathtaking, with beautiful cinematography and gorgeous, authentic native costumes. It spans genres, a sweeping tale that features drama, history, romance and thrilling storylines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
