Danny Boyle and Alex Garland take us back into the twisted world of <em>28 Years Later<\/em>, and turning the world on its head is director Nia DaCosta with <em>28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.<\/em> The newest featurette has Danny Boyle talking about the impressive direction DaCosta has taken, and actor Ralph Fiennes on how humanity evolves in the face of danger and desperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch the featurette: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/iz_5yoUZQDo?si=JxDRkSonCWALGZvu\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/iz_5yoUZQDo?si=JxDRkSonCWALGZvu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp; <em>28 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/em>, the real threat to humanity emerges in the land of the infected: the survivors themselves. After the events of the first film, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds a connection in the most unexpected of places, and Spike\u2019s (Alfie Williams) encounter with the bizarre ringleader Jimmy Crystal (Jack O\u2019Connell) spirals into something sinister.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As DaCosta takes over for <em>28 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/em>, Boyle is confident that their story has fallen into the right hands. \u201cNia was the perfect choice to direct <em>The Bone Temple<\/em>.&nbsp; Alex Garland and I had long been fans of her reimagining of Candyman and recognized that Nia has serious horror chops \u2013 and a genuine love for the original <em>28 Days Later<\/em>. She honors what fans love about the franchise while making the new film her own, taking the series into even darker, more intense areas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garland also serves as a screenwriter for the film, and believes that the shift in directorial style is something to look forward to. \u201cFrom the start, Nia told Danny and me that the camera would not move in the way Danny moves the camera, and it would not be edited in the way Danny cuts,\u201d Garland confirms. \u201cThat was very impressive to Danny because most people\u2019s instinct would have been to duplicate his style, and Nia didn\u2019t do that. That was impressive and smart. Her film is quite different, and that\u2019s a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DaCosta was excited to helm a film from a franchise that she has been a longtime fan of, and is certain that she left a positive imprint in directing <em>28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. <\/em>\u201cWhat connects the two films is that they\u2019re both bonkers, idiosyncratic, and artistically personal works,\u201d DaCosta notes. \u201cWhen I initially discussed the new film with Danny and Alex, I told them, \u2018I\u2019m going to make it my own. I\u2019m not going to try to make \u2018a Danny Boyle movie.\u2019 Because that\u2019s impossible to make. Alex\u2019s script was very different from <em>28 Years Later<\/em>, so it lends itself to a different approach.
