When you\u2019re starting out, you enter record deals and contracts without fully understanding what\u2019s written in them. Sometimes, you don\u2019t really comprehend the terms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed the importance of legal advice and contract literacy for emerging musicians navigating the complexities of recording agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s important for artists to carefully read their contracts,\u201d he added. \u201cYou should have a lawyer and review everything line by line. You need to understand exactly what you\u2019re getting into. It\u2019s a harsh truth about the industry, but it\u2019s real. And honestly, I think it\u2019s perfect timing that this issue has come to light. Artists need to be educated about what really happens behind closed doors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The short-form video post has garnered more than a million views on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@rnbjayr\/video\/7616729079663856917\">TikTok<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/reel\/1228204349429163\/?s=single_unit\">Facebook<\/a>, combined, fueling wider debate about accountability with the music business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jay R further expanded on the topic during the press conference for <em>Songs For Selina<\/em>, a music-themed film that he produced and stars in.
