It offers a more nuanced take on empowerment, especially for women who have been continuously wronged by the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConfidence isn\u2019t about thinking you\u2019re better than anyone else,\u201d Alex Bruce explains. \u201cIt\u2019s about trusting yourself even if other people don\u2019t. I\u2019ve never liked how confidence gets praised in men but questioned in women. When men are confident, they\u2019re seen as leaders. When women are, they\u2019re often called arrogant or \u2018too much.\u2019 Gabriela is my way of saying: own who you are and don\u2019t make yourself smaller to make other people comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like her previous releases, \u201cGabriela\u201d reveals Bruce\u2019s style of merging sharp-witted, confrontational lyricism with alpha-female energy.
