When I first heard about <i style=\"font-weight:bold;\">The Gift <\/i>i thought that it was another horror movie with a cheesy title <i>but <\/i>as I started to read about the positive reviews \u00a0and praises about the movie I was suddenly excited for it.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><i style=\"font-weight:bold;\">&#8220;The Gift&#8221; <\/i>has been called the <i>&#8216;surprise of the summer box office&#8217;<\/i>, it has earned a 92% rating in Rotten Tomatoes and fellow movie aficionados abroad have highly recommended it.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">Needless to say I had high expectations for the film and I&#8217;m happy to say that I was not dissapointed.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><a style=\"margin-left:1em;margin-right:1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-Y1Uuji4AcQs\/VdPmtSYl_BI\/AAAAAAAAK8U\/unfgMrr0RS8\/s640\/blogger-image--450259629.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-Y1Uuji4AcQs\/VdPmtSYl_BI\/AAAAAAAAK8U\/unfgMrr0RS8\/s640\/blogger-image--450259629.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><i>The Gift <\/i>starts with a simple enough premise, a young couple move into a beautiful new home and while shopping for home decor Simon (Jason Bateman) and his wife Robyn (Rebecca Hall) run into an old friend of Simon&#8217;s from High School.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">Joel Edgerton who also wrote the story, was producer on the film and a first time Director plays the &#8216;socially awkward&#8217; Gordo. Simple enough story right? It can happen to me and you and what seems to be a simple enough plot blossoms into a dark, sinister revenge story.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">Audiences&#8217;s prejudices will be challenged as they will meet controversial characters who don&#8217;t really fit into the traditional protagonist &amp; antagonist roles.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">Not lacking in it&#8217;s own heart-stopping, surprise moments, you will surely miss out if you don&#8217;t watch\u00a0<i>The Gift. \u00a0<\/i>It&#8217;s a dark revenge story without monsters and killers but just ordinary people like you and me who still manage to destroy lives and sometimes that is even much more frightening.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><a style=\"margin-left:1em;margin-right:1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-DeJQ9eGj7_I\/VdPowiKhcKI\/AAAAAAAAK8g\/eRUwhtRlvjI\/s640\/blogger-image-1180748453.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-DeJQ9eGj7_I\/VdPowiKhcKI\/AAAAAAAAK8g\/eRUwhtRlvjI\/s640\/blogger-image-1180748453.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">The ending is so surprising &amp; unexpected that will feel as though a rug was pulled from under you and as you lay on the floor shocked and surprised, you will realize true horror for what it really is. A psychological thriller that will have you thinking about the movie long after the movie has ended.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><i>The Gift <\/i>is a must see movie for those who are looking more than the ordinary movie experience, I&#8217;ve seen the movie about a week ago and I&#8217;m still bothered about it. <strong>9 out of 10.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><i>The Gift <\/i>opens on August 19 in local cinemas and is distributed by OctoArts Films International.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;\">#TheGiftPH #OpenTheGiftAug19<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I usually shy away from horror-thriller movies, especially B-Slasher ones.
