There seems to be a lot of ‘comebacks’ from thirty years ago. We have ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ the sequel to the 1986 ‘Top Gun’ film, breaking records in the box office thirty-six years after the original made its debut in cinemas. In fact, it is now Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing debut in his career! The Netflix hit ‘Stranger Things’ just released its 4th season (volume 1) over the weekend, its interesting to note that its also set thirty-six years ago, in 1986. The first episode even featured a Newsweek cover of the deposed Dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. his son and namesake is now President elect and will assume office on June 30, 2022 – Stranger Things indeed.

With these cultural comebacks from three decades ago gaining relevance today, it only seems fitting that the transcendent compilation album ‘Alert Level’ featuring four key local bands in the Metro thirty years ago ‘The Breed’ ‘Color It Red’ ‘Rizal Underground’ and ‘Tropical Depression’ are also making news with the vinyl re-issue of ‘Alert Level’.

The vinyl re-issue comes at the perfect time with the resurgence the popularity of physical copies of music, such as cassette tapes, CDs and of course, vinyl.

Produced in 1992 during the twelve hour brown outs, the compilation album ‘Alert Level’ served as a launching pad in the careers of the bands, further cementing its significance and importance in the history of OPM.

If you are a fan of any of these bands or maybe all of them, then getting a vinyl of ‘Alert Level’ is a no-brainer.

The vinyl comes in thick plastic, not the flimsy ones (those who have vinyl know what I mean). There are two vinyl that come with the album. A 12 inch marble yellow one that comes in an anti-static sleeve. There is also a 7 inch EP in black.

There are also photos and lyrics inside.
