Movie Review: Toy Story 4 – Pixar still has magic up its sleeves.

NEW TOY? – Everyone’s favorite pull-string cowboy sheriff Woody, along with his best friends Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, are happy taking care of their kid, Bonnie, until a new toy called “Forky” arrives in her room. According to Forky, a spork-turned-craft-project, he’s not a toy at all—and he’d rather skip this big adventure completely, if only they’d let him. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return as the voices of Woody, Buzz and Jessie, and comedian Tony Hale lends his voice to Forky. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019. ©2018 Disney•Pixar. “Do we really need another Toy Story?” was my initial reaction when I found out that Woody & Co. were going to get another chapter in their hilarious, touching and tear inducing adventures as Andy’s toys.

I always thought that Andy giving them away to Bonnie at the end of the third Toy Story movie was a good enough ending.

Well, I’m glad to be proven wrong because d*amit Pixar sure knows how to make your heartache and bring in the tears-all the while asking existential questions such as:

“What is your purpose in life?”

“What happens when you suddenly lose the only thing you’ve ever known?”

Don’t worry even with the existential themes, things never get too serious or boring in “Toy Story 4” – in fact both adults and kids will be entertained all the way through!

GABBY GABBY – In Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” Woody finds himself in Second Chance Antiques, home to an adorable, talking pull-string doll from the 1950s and her crew of voiceless ventriloquist dummies. Unfortunately for Gabby Gabby, a manufacturing defect in her pull-string voice box has left her sounding anything but adorable. Christina Hendricks lends her voice to Gabby Gabby. “Toy Story 4” opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019…©2019 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

They’re no longer in Andy’s room and Woody is no longer the favorite and to make things even more difficult (and hilarious) Bonnie is obsessed with a spork!

Doing what he does best (you know, jumping out of moving vehicles) Woody asks the big questions:

What happens when all your life you’ve only known one thing?

You’ve only been one thing? And suddenly that’s gone?

While pondering all of this, Woody is even possibly given a second chance.

For once it’s not about “the kid” but it’s about the “toys” and that’s very refreshing.

The film is beautifully animated, the CGI is so refined you could see all the details and textures in each toy, making them all the more special and unique. The writing is brilliant! And will keep both adults and children entertained (and maybe crying a bit here and there).

Toy Story 4 proves that there’s still Pixar magic and Woody and the gang still have a story to tell and can still make you cry like a three year old. I know I did.

PICK ME! — Ducky and Bunny are carnival prizes who are eager to be won. But when their plans are rudely interrupted, they find themselves on an unexpected adventure with a group of toys who have no idea what it feels like to be tacked to a prize wall. Funny men Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele provide the voices of Ducky and Bunny, respectively. 9.5/10 – Shout out to Gabby Gabby not being your typical bitter toy/villain type. Just a victim of circumstance and just wanting to become that perfect toy for a special child. Also I loved the part where Woody gives a “sacrifice” because he knows and understands the true purpose of each toy. This is definitely a good teaching point to children.

Also Bo Peep being her own woman and not relying on Woody was refreshing as well! You go girl!
