Summer feels like it’s just around the corner as Filipino singer-songwriter JAPPH takes listeners on a cozy, bohemian-inspired ride for the music video of his official new single “I Will.”
Shot in the beautiful surf town of Liwliwa, Zambales, the cinematic visuals chronicle a ‘barkada’ journey to a popular beach destination in their bid to escape from the exhaustion of the bustling city life.
Interspersed with random people enjoying the quiet, laid-back vibe of Liwliwa, the video also showcases some of the hidden gems and simple pleasures that the place has to offer.
The music video is helmed by JAPPH himself, with scenic cinematography by Welvin Medina. According to JAPPH, the shoot went smoothly as possible because the experience hardly feels like work.
Interestingly, the title of the song, when flipped backwards, sounds like the location of the music video shoot, which also happens to be the ‘safe haven’ that JAPPH refers to, when describing the origins of the track.
“I Will is a song about a situation that gives you relief and peace,” the 27-year-old reggae/pop/folk artist said. “it’s a safe haven. It could be anywhere, anyone or anything. And for me, the one that inspired me is a place called ‘Liwliwa’ a small town in San Felipe, Zambales. Whenever I’m there, I always feel that I’m in my safe haven.”
“I Will” is a reggae-lite, folk-infused track that serves as the carrier single off the promising singer-songwriter’s upcoming album, Life Is Way Too Short For Bad Vibes—due early next year. The song, just like anything that he’s recently produced and written so far, evokes an atmosphere of beach trips and afternoon countryside drives.
