GET IN THE SPIRIT OF EARTH DAY WITH THESE NAT GEO TITLES ON DISNEY+

Beauty on Earth is all around us, captured magnificently by these National Geographic titles on Disney+

You don’t have to be in a rainforest or mountain as a full-fledged explorer to appreciate nature. Sometimes, all it takes is a surprise visit from a butterfly in the garden or the sunlight hitting your window plant just right to realize that we’re surrounded by beauty.

This Earth Day on April 22, open your eyes to the everyday wonders we usually take for granted through several spectacular National Geographic titles available on Disney+. Gather around, binge with your friends and family, and take a moment to reflect just how lucky we all are to call this planet our home.

‘Disneynature’s Orangutan’

Set to debut exclusively on Disney+ this Earth Day is Disneynature’s feature film “Orangutan.” Narrated by Josh Gad, the famous voice behind “Frozen’s” Olaf, the film introduces the inquisitive adolescent orangutan Indah as she leaves the nest for the first time and embarks on an extraordinary journey of courage, family and belonging.

The film’s global release is part of The Walt Disney Company’s Earth Month festivities, inviting audiences to experience the wonders of our planet. In celebration of “Orangutan’”s launch, the Disney Conservation Fund is supporting Wildlife Asia and their partner, Leuser Conservation Forum, to protect Sumatran orangutans, elephants and tigers across more than 5 million acres of forest habitat—and to help rebuild the Ketambe Research Center and support rangers impacted by catastrophic flooding. This facility and teams were critical to the making of “Orangutan,” offering filmmakers support and guidance almost every day while in the field.

Disneynature’s “Orangutan” takes viewers high into the Southeast Asian treetops of the world’s most majestic rainforest canopy, where a magnificent community of playful personalities lives. “Orangutan” is directed by Mark Linfield, co-directed by Vanessa Berlowitz, and produced by Linfield, Berlowitz and Roy Conli, with original music by Nitin Sawhney.

Aside from “Orangutan,” viewers can step into the wild this Earth Month by streaming the entire Disneynature Collection on Disney+, featuring awe-inspiring animal stories in films like “Sea Lions of the Galapagos,” “Tiger,” “Polar Bear,” “Elephant,” “Penguins” and other breathtaking documentaries.

‘Secrets of the Bees’

National Geographic’s next installment of its Emmy®-winning “Secrets of” franchise is something buzzworthy, to say the least.

Hosted and narrated by BAFTA and Emmy-award winning National Geographic Explorer Bertie Gregory, “Secrets of the Bees” uses groundbreaking filming technology to reveal an extraordinary world. With the expertise of entomologist and fellow National Geographic Explorer Dr. Samuel Ramsey, the series uncovers the astonishing architecture and intelligence of these creatures, unlocking their secrets and featuring never-before-filmed moments.

“For its fifth anniversary, ‘Secrets of’ turns its lens to one of Earth’s smallest yet most vital heroes: bees,” says Academy Award-winning executive producer James Cameron. “Far more than pollinators, bees are socially complex, fast-thinking individuals and the most important insects on our planet. Their impact on the natural world and humanity is immeasurable, and we’re only just beginning to see how extraordinary they truly are.”

‘Ghost Elephants’

Legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog presents a new feature documentary with “Ghost Elephants.” It premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where Herzog received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.

Follow National Geographic Explorer Steve Boyes on an epic journey as he sets out with some of the world’s last master trackers in pursuit of an animal long believed to be a myth. In the mist-covered highlands of Angola, deep within its forests, a mystery endures: the elusive ghost elephants of Lisima, potentially living descendants of the largest land mammal ever recorded.

To find these elusive elephants, Boyes and fellow National Geographic Explorer Kerllen Costa have teamed up with three KhoiSan master trackers—Xui, Xui Dawid, and Kobus—to succeed where advanced technology could not. Directed, narrated and written by Herzog, “Ghost Elephants” is a lyrical tale of survival, reconnection and the enduring power of ancient knowledge in the face of modern loss.
