Get Ready for an Adrenaline Rush: Road House Hits Prime Video on March 21

March 20, 2024 – Prepare to be swept into the heart-pounding world of Road House. Director Doug Liman, known for his iconic works like The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jumper, and Edge of Tomorrow, helms this ambitious project, breathing new life into the beloved cult classic and offering audiences a thrilling reimagining of the iconic tale. Set to premiere on Prime Video on March 21, this modern take on Road House promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Road House follows the journey of Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter navigating the gritty underworld of bouncing. Dalton’s background as a former UFC fighter frequently leads him to rely on violence to resolve conflicts. However, beneath this tough exterior, he remains committed to delivering justice to those in need, even if it requires bending the rules.

With Liman’s passion for anti-heroes, the character of Dalton shines through in his approach to Road House, infusing the story with depth and complexity. “Here’s a guy who is so gentle and caring and, at the same time, so freaking lethal. He’s just a fantastic character,” Liman explains.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s portrayal of Dalton pays tribute to Patrick Swayze’s original performance while adding his own unique touch.

Reflecting on the role, Gyllenhaal shares, “I was a huge Patrick Swayze fan since I was a kid. I had the honor of working with him on a film we did called Donnie Darko. I come from the school of theatre, where you play roles that other people have played. The way Patrick defined the role and the essence of what they did was really special. We got to take that essence and reimagine it for the time we live in, so it is very different. Defying expectations is something I love to do and that, to me, is what Doug does best.”

But the magic of Road House doesn’t stop with its cast and director. The film boasts a dynamic soundtrack curated by composer Christophe Beck and music supervisor Randy Poster. From Breland’s energetic blend of country and hip-hop to Jelly Joseph’s soulful island melodies, the music of Road House sets the stage for each thrilling moment, enhancing the viewing experience and immersing audiences in the world of the movie.

Filmed against the stunning backdrop of the Dominican Republic, Road House offers a visual feast for the eyes. Director Doug Liman and his team spared no expense in bringing the world of Road House to life, from the meticulously crafted roadhouse set to the vibrant costumes designed by Dayna Pink. Actress Jessica Williams, who plays a pivotal role in the movie, marvels at the immersive production design, noting, “The production design was jaw-dropping.”

Prepare for an action-packed retelling of Road House on Prime Video. Liman’s daring remake promises to fascinate audiences with thrilling action, engaging characters, and a fresh perspective on a cherished classic.
