The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) continues to demonstrate banking excellence in the country, as it bags a total of eight honors, particularly in financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), investment banking, foreign exchange (FX), and wealth management at the Alpha Southeast Asia Awards 2026.
BPI – specifically its Business Banking unit – won as Best SME Bank in the Philippines at the Alpha Southeast Asia Awards for Best Financial Institution for the 13th time in 20 years. BPI Business Banking caters to SMEs’ financing needs to help them achieve their business goals through the Ka-Negosyo Loans and other solutions.
BPI Business Banking was recognized for expanding Ka-Negosyo On The Go (KNOTG), its fully digital loan application platform that empowers SMEs nationwide to discover, assess, and apply for financing anytime, anywhere. The recognition also highlighted BPI’s use of alternative data and intelligent, data-driven lending solutions to broaden financing access for underserved SMEs, enabling more businesses to scale with confidence while maintaining sound risk management. These efforts supported BPI Business Banking to achieve an 80% increase in total outstanding SME loans and 13% increase in customer count.
“Understanding the Filipino entrepreneur at a deeper level and integrating it with BPI’s digital transformation journey has driven us to expand Ka-Negosyo On The Go and leverage intelligent, data-driven lending to deliver faster, more meaningful support and help more small businesses unlock growth opportunities. Together with our suite of Ka-Negosyo solutions, we continue to empower SMEs with financing that is madali, magaan, at mabilis,” said Dominique Ocliasa, Business Banking Head at BPI.
“We are truly grateful to our SMEs that have trusted BPI as their partner in growing their businesses that, in the process, build our nation,” Ocliasa added.

Meanwhile, BPI Capital – the Bank’s investment banking arm – also won as Best Equity House in the Philippines. In 2025, it completed nine transactions worth US$ 418 million (around ₱25.8 billion). Through BPI Capital, BPI also became the only local bank to serve as Joint Global Coordinator and Joint Bookrunner for Maynilad Water Services’ landmark ₱34.3 billion initial public offering (IPO).
BPI Capital likewise assisted in capital raising activities for real estate investment trusts (REITs) like AREIT and RL Commercial REIT; and for major companies like Ayala Corporation, Globe Telecom, and San Miguel Corporation.
“Completing all these fundraising efforts, especially the Maynilad IPO, are feats in themselves. This makes us even more grateful to the Alpha Southeast Asia Awards for affirming the scale and quality of the solutions and services we provide to our clients.
We look forward to delivering more deals that move the country toward progress,” said Lester Ong, President at BPI Capital.
BPI’s Global Markets segment won two honors at the 19th Annual Treasury and FX Awards. Among Philippine banks, BPI was recognized as having the Best Corporate Treasury Sales and Structuring Team, affirming its leadership in delivering market-leading hedging solutions, risk management strategies, and bespoke treasury advisory to corporate clients. BPI was also named as Best FX Bank for Money Market Products for providing multi-currency investment solutions through various FX products and services backed by the Bank’s robust liquidity.
“In line with BPI’s drive for customer obsession, we are committed to supporting our clients as they navigate FX volatility by delivering tailored treasury and hedging solutions and providing access to competitive FX and money market instruments,” said Dino Gasmen, Global Markets Head and Treasurer at BPI.
BPI Wealth earned four recognitions at the 17th Annual Fund Management Awards, reinforcing its leadership in the Philippine asset and wealth management industry.
The Bank’s wealth management arm was named Best Overall Asset & Fund Manager—its 10th win in 11 years—in recognition of its consistent investment performance, disciplined portfolio management, and client-centric approach. It also received awards for Best Asset Manager for Money Market Funds and Best Asset Manager for Feeder Funds, highlighting its expertise in delivering stable liquidity solutions and providing clients with access to globally diversified investment opportunities through carefully curated strategies across international equity and fixed income markets.
Completing its wins was the award for Best Fund with the Optimal Sharpe Ratio, which recognizes BPI Wealth’s ability to generate strong risk-adjusted returns while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk management.
“These awards inspire us to continue raising the standard of wealth management by combining strong investment discipline with meaningful innovation. We remain committed to delivering solutions that are not only performance-driven but also responsive to the evolving needs of our clients,” said Maria Theresa Marcial, President and CEO of BPI Wealth.
BPI President and CEO Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco thanked the Alpha Southeast Asia Awards for all the honors the Bank received.
“I am very grateful for the recognition of the Bank’s efforts to level up our array of products and services to better serve our customers, which indeed reflects our goal to champion banking excellence anchored on trust and the best digital offers,” he said. “As the Bank celebrates its 175th anniversary this year, these accolades inspire us to even empower Filipinos to do more and achieve more in their lives.”
The Alpha Southeast Asia Awards, one of the region’s prestigious financial award-giving bodies, is organized by the institutional investment magazine of the same name.
