Movie Review- Angry Birds Movie 2 – Charms in Sequel

Honestly, I was a bit surprised that there was going to be a sequel to 2016’s “Angry Birds Movie” mostly because the game is no longer popular (at least, to my knowledge). Although the first film was a surprise delight! I found myself enjoying the movie, despite not knowing anything about the game.

Three years later, the sequel, simply titled “Angry Birds Movie 2” once again charms audiences, adults and kids alike with their unique brand of humor and a whole new adventure for the flightless birds of Bird Island and the green pigs of Pig Island.

The song choices in the film, pieces of pop songs which were used to quickly reflect the character’s feelings, such as the use of “All by Myself” (Eric Carmen) to depict Red’s fear of loneliness or Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait” as a montage to a love story back in the 90’s will have the entire audience laughing, as well as the film’s own unique brand and oftentimes ridiculous humor.

I guess I only have myself to blame, you see I wasn’t able to fully enjoy the movie, mostly because I saw a lot of the trailers. So I was already anticipating many of the jokes and punch lines. Maybe next time just see one trailer and avoid the rest.

I love that the film teaches kids (and adults) that you can be friends with those whom you thought of as your “enemies” and in this day and age, we definitely need all the friends we can get.

6.8/10 “Angry Birds Movie 2” is now showing.
