Mini Movie Review: Little Women

Director Greta Gerwig took a beloved story and made it relevant in this day and age. She breathes life into characters we grew up with, characters we looked up to as young girls. The performances from Saoirse Ronan as the feisty Jo, Florence Pugh as ambitious Amy were my favorites. Timothee Chamelet as Laurie, is the ultimate boy next door (quite literally, actually).

I love how the film did not follow a linear story telling but went from present to past and back, and it was done it such an interesting fashion, even the film coloring which used warm and bright colors from when the scenes were in the past and using a darker, muted tone for the present, when the March girls are older and when they were not together.

The film, through the treatment of its director and incredible performances of its talented ensemble cast prove that the themes of family and sisterhood are timeless and that the desire to break through the constructs of society should be a continuous battle for every one, regardless of gender or century we live in.
