Think your significant other’s family is weird?

Wait till you meet the Le Domas family, extremely rich, a bit eccentric and very traditional and beautiful, slim and blonde Grace is joining the family!

A fun, dark-comedy, suspence-thriller, “Ready or Not” is an enjoyable survival film which sees Samara Weaving as Grace, the epitome of a blushing bride, perfect and beautiful; placed under the most bizzare of circumstances-playing hide and seek with her new, rich and eccentric in-laws, the sick twist? If they find her, they have to kill her.

I know you won’t expect it but you will find yourself roaring with laughter at some of the film’s moments, completely owning the dark-comedy which the film successfully delivers. Don’t worry you’ll be screaming at the exciting bits and screaming at some gory sequences as well.

Props to the film’s sound production, every splatter, every gurgle, every flight of an arrow, the sound of the axe piercing the air is so well placed and used in such a unique and refreshing way that makes the film deliver a visceral experience.

I found myself covering my ears and shutting my eyes at some parts of the movie, just goes to show that it’s effective in its execution of these sound effects you will feel the imminent danger that Grace is in.

An unsung hero in the film? Is Grace’s Wedding dress, which goes from pure immaculate white to shorter, dirtier, gets torn at times, gets really muddy, then really, really bloody. A good analogy to her transformation from blushing bride to all out fesity fighter.

She also goes from heels to a sensible pair of worn yellow Chucks.

Kudos to the Costume Designer who I can tell had fun in the film, I mean how many movies can you say that the costume is also sort-of a character and also goes through a journey themselves?!

I love that this film made me appreciate these movie elements that people don’t always rave about too much.

Can’t wait to see more of Samara Weaving (fun fact, actor Hugo Weaving is her uncle) who delivers an incredible performance, whether she’s being a feisty badass or at times an understandably hysterical primal human being just trying to survive.
