The Aftermath Don’t fraternize with the enemy.

“The Aftermath” is not your typical WWII drama as it uses a steamy love triangle as a front to a story of love, loss and grief amid the ruble and ashes of war.

Not that I’m complaining. Alexander Skarsgard is a tall, blonde, wood chopping (former) German architect who loses his mansion of a home when it is given to a British colonel (Jason Clarke) and his wife (Keira Knightley) to live in, during the reconstruction effort in post war Hamburg, Germany.

What at fist is an awkward living situation, escalates into a forbidden love affair between former enemies.

The film delivers a solid first and second act, with impressive and heartbreaking performances from the three leads. The third act was a bit rushed and the story could have gone on different ways, it would probably all depend on what you, as an audience would have preferred.
