TroyBoi and Fabian Mazur link up for “Shoulder Lean,” a filthy, slow-tempo trap heater out October 9 via Ultra Records.
As dance floors get flooded with faster rhythms, TroyBoi and Fabian Mazur are making a strong case for taking things down to a slow, heavy crawl. Their new joint single, “Shoulder Lean,” out now via Ultra Records, delivers a relentless dose of low-slung, system-testing trap.
Designed around a filthy drop, dark atmospheric weight, and deep sub-bass, the track strips away unnecessary clutter to highlight the raw, half-time swing that originally put festival trap on the map.
The drop comes on the heels of TroyBoi’s recent FT EP, also released through Ultra Records. Where that seven-track body of work focused on cross-genre vocal features partnering with voices such as Daya, Morray, and Rockie Fresh, alongside his intimate North American Hear2Move tour, “Shoulder Lean” shifts the focus entirely back to heavy, instrumental-driven trap grit.
Rather than fitting into current production trends, TroyBoi and Fabian Mazur focus on what makes the genre timeless: space, heavy low-end, and an unmistakable bounce. The track seamlessly merges TroyBoi’s signature wonky, syncopated rhythms with Mazur’s surgical sound design, creating a track tailored for mainstage sound systems and night drives alike. Ahead of its official release, “Shoulder Lean” has already picked up serious mainstage traction, with early support from Zedd rinsing out the track at Zedd In The Park here.
With “Shoulder Lean,” two of the industry’s most respected artists deliver a blunt reminder of how hard a slow, filthy trap drop can still hit.
