AIA and BPI AIA donate to Kythe Foundation for pediatric care initiatives through their multi-protection critical illness products

MANILA, Philippines—AIA Philippines, formerly Philam Life, and BPI AIA Life Assurance Corporation (BPI AIA), the bancassurance partnership between the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and AIA Philippines, have strengthened their commitment to empowering Filipinos to live healthier, longer, and better lives by supporting the Kythe Foundation to mark the launch of their latest health insurance solutions—AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect.

These new products respond to the rising healthcare costs and the increasing demand among Filipinos for coverage that goes beyond a first critical illness diagnosis. AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect offer multi-claim critical illness protection, allowing customers to claim for up to three major critical illnesses, with benefits for early-stage conditions, flexible coverage options, and protection that can extend up to age 100.

Both companies will make a donation to Kythe Foundation, in the name of AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI MultiCare Protect policyholders, to fund programs for children with cancer that support medical care, psychosocial services, and patient navigation — including therapeutic play, caregiver support, emergency aid, and child-friendly spaces at the National Children’s Hospital and Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

“This collaboration helps us bring to life AIA’s Purpose — helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives — in a deeply meaningful way, extending our contributions to the communities we serve. By supporting Kythe Foundation, we help enable vital psychosocial care and patient support programs that empower children with critical illnesses and give their families greater strength and resilience throughout their healthcare journey. We feel there is no better way to mark the launch of our new health products AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect,” said Melissa Henson, Chief Marketing Officer, AIA Philippines.

Founded in 1992, Kythe Foundation pioneered Child Life Services in the Philippines, helping pediatric patients cope with hospitalization through play, psychosocial support, and family-centered care.

The donation will support initiatives such as setting up of emergency and treatment funds for patients, providing psychosocial support kits to newly diagnosed patients and their families, and upgrading the Kythe safe spaces at the National Children’s Hospital and Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

“At Kythe, we see every child beyond their diagnosis. We see their courage, fears, and hope,” said Kythe Foundation Executive Director Magdalena Lopez. “We are grateful for our partnership with AIA and BPI AIA, whose commitment to supporting Filipino families goes beyond financial protection. Their support helps us care for children with cancer and chronic illnesses not only by addressing their physical needs, but also by supporting their emotional well-being and that of their families.”

AIA and BPI AIA customers who purchase AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect will be notified that AIA and BPI AIA have contributed to Kythe Foundation on their behalf at no extra cost to their premium.
