Shooting with the RX100 III

I find the camera quite capable. I mostly shot with stills. I really like the way screen articulates as I can easily shoot low angles, and shoot discretely when needed.

I really like shooting with a small compact camera for a change and its very refreshing working with the Sony RX100 M3. Working with this small, sleek camera is fun and easy.

For me, the main contender for this is a regular smart phone, let’s compare:

A few things that you can do on the RX100 III like articulate LCD, get the actual focal length instead of stretching or cropping an image when zooming in, superb low-light capability, optics is superb since Sony utilizes Zeiss lens, focusing of the camera is pretty quick and accurate once locked in, and shoot in RAW format(ARW) and its’ dimension will be able to fit into a small purse.

2 bonuses for this camera: 1st it’s control ring. You can control the aperture or control focus when you are on DMF mode. The only thing that I was worried about shooting in DMF mode is I cannot control the aperture. 2nd is it’s Electronic View Finder. I was perplexed at first that I had to pull out the actual component to use it properly, image would appear blurry and unusable so I had to read in the manual to get to the bottom of that.

I just wished that it had a mic jack since the camera is also geared for vlogging as well.

Having the Sony RX100 III is a good option if and when you can’t have your DSLR with you or can’t bring it with you in some situations. You can get better quality photos as compared to your smart phone and you don’t have to carry a heavy camera around. Win-win!

Sony’s RX 100 III packs a wallop for a premium compact point and shoot. Highly recommended for photo-enthusiast that wants to have a light weight budget setup, it’s also feasible for video use and vlogging purposes. Just be mindful of your audio output when shooting with the RX100 MIII especially if you’ll be shooting away from the camera or the ambient noise will be louder than usual.
