Moonies rejoice! We have not one, but two Sailor Moon movies coming to Netflix on June 3! Mark your calendars! Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal Movies 1 and 2 are scheduled to drop on the streaming giant on the same month as Usagi’s birthday (her actual birthday is on the 30th of June, just so you know).

Everyone who went through the 90s are familiar with these magical girls, from young girls and yes, some boys, who ran and shouted: Moon Prism Power Make up!, to their parents who were forced…er…coerced…er…encouraged to buy Sailor Moon merchandise, be it original hard-to-find items from Japan or bootleg ones which were available in Greenhills and basically everywhere. Boys had to put up with cries of: Parurusahan kita-sa ngalan ng buwan! Or if they were nice enough, they could play along as Tuxedo Mask.

As the kids from the 90s grew, their love for the Sailor Moon franchise grew with them as well. No longer kids dependent on their allowance or their parents’ generosity, now had money of their own to spend on Sailor Moon collectibles, amassing collections that a true fan would be proud to call their own.

Now, almost thirty years since the original animé aired in 1992 (yes, we know, we’re old) Pinoy fans can enjoy the highly anticipated Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie based on the Dream arc of the Sailor Moon manga by Naoko Takeuchi and because there are two parts of the movie, (Part 1 and Part 2) -both of these will be available to stream on Netflix on June 3.

And we’re dishing out all the information that we have on the films that we have.

Here are the films’ plot (in case you need a little refresher, Tita moments – totally understandable) and also FYI the film is a continuation and also serves as a fourth season to the Sailor Moon Crystal series.

Part 1: A surprise solar eclipse happens in April. When the moon covers the sun, Usagi and Chibiusa meet a mysterious Pegasus (yup, a magical horned horse with wings), who’s looking for “chosen maiden” wink wink – to help him break the seal of the Golden Crystal. “I want you to help me” Pegasus tells Chibiusa, as he begins to appear in her dreams.

Meanwhile, a mysterious group called the Dead Moon Circus appears, their goal is to scatter nightmare incarnations called Lemures across the world, obtain the legendary Silver Crystal, rule the Earth and Moon and eventually, the Universe. Chibi-Usa who has been called the “young maiden” by Helios (Pegasus’ human form) soon begins developing feelings for him (kilig). Of course, the original Sailor Moon love team -Usagi and Mamoru -who are responsible for all your Tita’s kilig moments back in the day, won’t be upstaged by their daughter with the kilig factor, and this is when Mamoru (Tuxedo Mask) distances himself from Usagi, fearing that being near her will put her in danger of course, there’s a old-school pakipot factor there.

Part 2:

The ten Sailor Soldiers (Yes! Outer Sailor Senshi!) have gathered for the final battle. However, the films baddie- the Queen of the Dead Moon, Nehelenia attacks with the power of her “nightmares”. While Helios uses his last ounce of strength to save the Earth (yup, there is a lot of this in 90s animé) Usagi is drawn into Nehelenia’s nightmare, but is encouraged by the strong heart of Tuxedo Mask (Kilig overload!). Joining forces with her fellow Super Sailor Soldiers, she transforms into Eternal Sailor Moon (yes, there is of course, a lot of transformation in 90’s magical girl/ shojo animé) finally all Eternalized Sailor Soldiers have gathered.
